Recruitment Solutions are working with a market-leading distribution company seeking a dedicated and skilled HGV Class 2 Driver to join their Transport team in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, on a permanent basis.
This HGV Class 2 Driver job in Abingdon is suited to a candidate who is committed to safety, efficiency and delivering a high standard of customer service. The role involves completing multi-drop deliveries, loading and unloading stock alongside a Drivers Mate, and ensuring deliveries are carried out on time.
The successful candidate will need excellent communication skills and the ability to follow all relevant traffic regulations and company policies. Previous delivery driving or commercial driving experience is preferred, alongside the physical fitness required to handle stock during deliveries.

About the role
As an HGV Class 2 Driver, you will be responsible for safely operating a vehicle to transport goods, completing deliveries and maintaining the required standards of safety and service.
Key responsibilities of the HGV Class 2 Driver job in Abingdon
- Safely drive and operate an HGV Class 2 vehicle for the transportation of goods.
- Conduct pre-trip inspections to ensure vehicles are in good working condition.
- Load and unload stock, ensuring materials are handled and secured properly.
- Work alongside a Drivers Mate when loading and unloading stock.
- Complete multi-drop deliveries while ensuring deliveries are made on time.
- Communicate effectively with warehouse staff and customers regarding delivery schedules and requirements.
- Maintain accurate delivery records, including mileage logs and delivery confirmations.
- Follow all safety regulations, traffic regulations and company policies while on the road.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries, addressing any issues or concerns promptly.
- Perform basic mechanical checks on vehicles as needed to help ensure operational efficiency.

About you
- Previous experience as a delivery driver or in commercial driving is preferred.
- Familiarity with warehouse operations is advantageous.

- Strong communication skills are required for effective interaction with team members and clients.
