Our client is looking for a receptionist to cover annual leave. This role provides a professional and dedicated reception service, representing the customer as the first point of contact for all users of the building.

The receptionist will welcome and assist building users and visitors while maintaining a professional, positive and well-presented reception environment. The role involves customer service, communication, visitor management, administration, security procedures and general reception duties.

About the role

As a receptionist, you will:

  • Welcome and assist all building users and visitors in a warm, professional and timely manner.
  • Present a consistently professional and positive image to both internal and external customers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, colleagues and building users.
  • Respond to enquiries and resolve queries or complaints via phone, email and general correspondence.
  • Develop an understanding of customers’ core business activities.
  • Maintain high safety and hygiene standards within the reception area.
  • Follow a clear desk policy and ensure the reception area is tidy, well-presented and fully stocked at all times.
  • Maintain accurate visitor records, including visitor numbers, departments visited and host details.
  • Ensure all visitors are informed of building security and evacuation procedures.
  • Provide general information about the premises and local area, including taxi bookings, nearby transport, parking and restaurants.
  • Manage security and telecommunications systems where required.
  • Handle incoming and outgoing deliveries efficiently.
  • Adhere to all security, confidentiality and data protection procedures.
  • Carry out additional administrative or office duties as reasonably required.

The role is focused on providing an efficient, professional and dedicated reception service while ensuring visitors and building users receive appropriate assistance and information.

About you

Previous experience in a corporate environment is essential. You will also need:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Confidence communicating with colleagues, staff and customers at all levels.
  • Experience using visitor management, telephone or helpdesk systems, which is beneficial but not essential.
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise workload effectively.
  • Confidence using computers and standard office systems.
  • Excellent people skills, including active listening and the ability to build positive working relationships.
