Production Manager

Our client based in Abingdon, Oxfordshire are market leaders in the production of vessels and ancillary equipment/facilities. They require a permanent Production Manager to join their team on a one year fixed term contract covering maternity leave.

We are looking for a manager who is happy to be visible to the team at all times. The position suits someone who wants to mix in and manage the team from the front, rather than spending the day sitting behind a desk. The position will involve managing a small team of around 15 x people.

About the role

  • Key tasks, responsibilities and qualities.➢ Safe and effective operation of manufacturing plant and ancillary equipment, including fork lift trucks➢ Housekeeping of the plant and area

    ➢ Compliance with standards for quality and consumption of material

    ➢ Routine batch manufacture

    ➢ Perform in-process testing of batches being manufactured

    ➢ Correct filling out of all batch sheets

    ➢ Adhering to all guidance given by Team Leaders

    ➢ Adhering to all health & safety guidelines Additional/ physical aspects

    ➢ Desirable personal qualities: punctuality, and the ability and desire to work well with people at all levels.

    ➢ A reasonable level of fitness is required as occasional heavy lifting is part of the job.

    A full driving licence and your own car would be advantageous, but not essential.

  • This position is a 12 month fixed term contract to cover maternity leave.
  • £35,000 – £40,000 salary dependent on experience
  • 8.30am – 5pm working day, although some flexibility will be required/expected
  • Monday – Friday working week
  • Start date to be around mid-January 2021 so there is some cross over with the current Production Manager

About you

QUALIFICATIONS &EXPERIENCE

Relevant qualifications/education normally required: Minimum GCSE or equivalent standard of education, to include English and Maths.

Desirable/Additional: Fork lift truck licence; and health & safety training.

Previous relevant experience Normally required: Proven experience in a similar capacity, in a manufacturing environment

Desirable/Additional: some knowledge of the chemistry and physical characteristics of materials, and the analytical tests undertaken during and after the processing of them has been carried out.
