We are looking to recruit an experienced Mobile HGV Technician, to work for our client based in Didcot, Oxfordshire.
Our client believe that the key to success is the ability to make decisive onsite decisions that keep vehicles compliant and on the road. As a small business it is our size that gives us our flexibility to meet our customer needs. We are currently looking for an experienced individual who enjoys the autonomy of working on their own, to join our team for 2 to 3 days per week.

About the role
As the Mobile HGV Technician, you will complete vehicle servicing, carry out running repairs such as inoperative lighting, and routine maintenance including replacing brake pads. There may also be some ad-hoc vehicle faults reported, with all works carried out locally at various customer sites in and around Didcot. Mileage can be expensed.

Key Responsibilities:
- To be accountable for any and all works completed when signing-off vehicles.
- To complete 6-weekly vehicle safety inspections, running repairs, maintenance and ad-hoc works to manufacturer guidelines and current legislation.
- Diagnose faults with vehicles and to report any and all defects.
- To assist other team members with work.
- To provide advice and cost-effective guidance to customers so that works can be agreed whilst with the customer, before parts can be ordered.
- To complete job cards and 6-weekly inspection reports in the specified way.
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment when appropriate to complete assigned tasks.
- To undertake and complete any reasonable requests made by your line manager.
The Role:
- Temp to Perm – Part-Time (subject to a 3-month probation period).
- Working hours: 16 to 24 hours per week between 6am to 6pm.
- Breaks: 30mins paid lunch, plus 2 x 15min breaks each day.
- Working Pattern: Mon to Fri.
- Mobile phone / Tablet: A mobile phone and tablet will be provided.
- Tools: You will need to provide your own tools however; specialist tools will be provided.
- Clothing: A full uniform, coveralls, footwear and appropriate personal protective equipment will be provided.
- Annual holiday entitlement: 25 days, plus 8 public holidays paid holiday (pro rata).
- Pension contribution: 5% employer contribution, 3% employee contribution.
- Hourly Rate: £20 to £25 per hour based on experience, with overtime available.
About you
The Candidate:
- Time served, experienced HGV Technician / Mechanic.
- Have an excellent knowledge of vehicle maintenance requirements, and keen awareness of both personal and vehicle health and safety standards.
- Be reliable, have the ability to work independently without supervision, and as part of a team.
- Have strong communication skills and the ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
- Have a high attention to detail.
- Have a working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic software packages.
